Vicky has worked on a variety of projects since starting into business in 1994. At first, projects were based on brochures and other for-print media. She expanded to non-print products such as interactive PDFs for online delivery and mutlimedia (animations) designed to be delivered as part of first CD training and, later, web-based training packages.

In recent years, she has been an integral part of the Marketing production team for Amerock, based initially in Columbia, MD, and then in Huntersville, NC. Vicky produced many types of print and web advertisements, catalogs, sell sheets, and other marketing support materials. She went from being one of many freelancers used by Amerock to the only one requested, such that when the company moved to North Carolina, they asked her to work remotely from home rather than lose the services she provided.

In addition, Vicky has created and programmed custom database systems for clients whose needs range from maintaining records and photographs for real estate associates and producing print ads based on the data, to tracking orders from an eCommerce store selling customized shutters.

Specific Projects:

Graphic Design & Production

Graphic Design projects include the marketing brochure for Summerbeam Woodworking, Inc.,
a Pennsylvania-based timberframe construction company, design and production of advertisements
for a skateboarding tournament which ran in "Skateboarding Magazine", and "The Wedding Bell,"
a small-format brochure for brides-to-be:

Vicky has also worked extensively as a creative/technical consultant and production artist
with Diane Lempfert of Great Ideas 2 Go. This team has produced two award-winning designs/productions,
as well as a number of creative and unique marketing materials for the end client:

Vicky was half of the design/production team which produced
Amerock's 2010 Master Catalog, the premier sales tool used by Amerock
to sell product into retail outlets:

Web and Multimedia

Vicky has produced websites, web pages and/or animations
for the Potomac Crescent Waldorf School
and for Shutter Classic, Inc.

The following is a video that resides on YouTube and which was referenced on shutterclassic.com.
This was done because the manufacturer of the shutter had produced the videos, and my client
didn't want to take the chance of putting the videos on his own site and then having them be out of date
if the manufacturer updated them. Linking to the YouTube versions was the perfect solution.

Vicky has produced advertisement graphics for Amerock's website:

And she's created Flash animations for Amerock,
for a training series on Radiology Physics from Mosby Publishing,
as well as animated Christmas eCards for the Maryland Port Administration:

Database Development

Admittedly, database development would not be a logical skill for someone
whose background is primarily in graphic design and production.

However, Vicky learned to use FileMaker Pro in 1990 while working for a small
vertical-market company whose focus was on developing relational database systems.
Vicky transitioned into developing custom databases. Clients who use
customized databases that she's designed include
Johns Hopkins University's Design & Publications Department,
Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors, Rebounders Gymnastics, and Shutter Classic:

Database Publishing Solutions

All things are born of necessity. A client once asked Vicky if it was possible to use the data
that was already in their database to create a layout in QuarkXPress, the top pagination program
at the time. They were hoping to save their graphic designers days and days
of layout time on that year's catalog.

Vicky was able to combine her extensive knowledge of page layout principals
with her database acumen and learn the programming capabilities of XData and InData
in order to produce templates allowing clients to do this kind of database publishing.

Her solutions have been used to automate the layout of ads, catalogs, and other
repetitive-format documents by Johns Hopkins University's Design & Publications Department,
the PowerBoat Guide, and Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors:

An InData template (the first of two pages in the above illustation--the one with the pink text)
is pretty amazing. It is programmed with code that will read the incoming data and format it.
When you import the data, which has been exported previously from a database,
the template begins to lay it out according to how Vicky has programmed it.
In minutes, it can produce a layout (like the lower of the two pages in the above illustration)
that's complete with styled, formatted text and sized photos and graphics. The PowerBoat
Guide, which is shown above, consists of more than 2,000 pages,
and yet it can be created in just minutes!
