Vicky provides a variety of training in both classroom and individualized packages. She teaches the software components of Adobe's Creative Suite, as well as FileMaker Pro
for small busness databas development and InData for database publishing.

She has taught for over a decade at the Johns Hopkins University distance learning center in downtown Baltimore, MD.
In addition, she's provided training at the learning center of Solutions Software, Inc., in King of Prussia, PA., as well as travelled onsite to meet individual client's training needs.

Training is available in:

Illustrator

Vicky began using Illustrator in 1988, when it first was released. This software is tops for drawing: logos, floorplans, and graphics that are representational (rather than photorealistic). It's also great for web graphics.

Learn how to use Illustrator to draw using anchor points, paths, Bezier curves, and a variety of tools that let you apply visual styles to your basic drawn shapes. Create logos and graphics, apply brushes and visual styles, populate with symbols, and more.

(In the brochure cover, below, the shapes of the "Showcase" letterforms and the arches for the background photo were drawn in Illustrator and ported to Photoshop in order to clip the photos.)

Photoshop

Photoshop is today's "must-know" software. From photo-compositing to web graphics creation and photographic retouching, Photoshop is the bomb. Even if you don't use it in your work, it's great fun to learn how to maniupulate images using filters, retouching tools, layers, and layer styles. Learn the differences in color spaces, correct resolutions, and file formats for various uses. In addition, learn how to create basic animations, correct the color in your images, composite different images together, and more.

Vicky provides training at level I and level II, as well as training targeted towards producing graphics specifically for online use.

Acrobat

Acrobat does the one thing that no other software can do: transcend the computer differences and limitations of your audience to let you create a generic, go-everywhere file format from your layout or graphics software.

Learn how to produce various "flavors" of PDFs, edit them for direct use by creating interactive bookmarks and link areas, and use them for paperless document review. PDFs can also be used to send for-print documents to press. Learn the differences—they're vitall!—between a PDF that is correct for press vs. one that's good for web or email sharing!

FileMaker Pro

InData

InData is a plug-in for InDesign which enables you to program publishing layouts in InDesign and use them to automatically lay out documents with data coming from an external database.

Publications can be created in minutes using InData, including text formatting, photos imported, and more. You can learn how to create your own "prototype" layouts and use them to flow in the data. (Or, you can have Vicky create the prototype for you if you don't anticipate needing to revise it very often.)
